House of Many Ways

House of Many Ways - Diana Wynne Jones Some YA rises above its target audience; this one didn't. It was a competent book, and I think I would have enjoyed it a lot as a 12-year-old, but as an adult I was frustrated by how easily everything happened right on cue. The biggest challenge the protagonist had to work through was overcoming her innate distaste for doing the laundry.
